Rotary Donation Buys Slings

Gerry Herket and Allan Gannon with the Qualicum Beach Sunrise Rotary were on hand at Arrowsmith Lodge to donate $2,000 for slings. Employees Deanna Smith and Kim Heaps accepted the donation with one of the slings that had already been purchased.

The Qualicum Beach Sunrise Rotary Club donated $2,000 to Arrowsmith Lodge senior care home in Parksville.

The local club raised half the money directly and the Rotary Foundation matched the donation, allowing Arrowsmith to purchase seven slings to help get residents in and out of bed.

The foundation received contributions from the dues of all clubs and disperses them back out.

Gannon said they heard about the need for the slings during a presentation to the club and through having their own club members or family and friends as residents of the facility.

“We’re always really impressed with the service and atmosphere here,” said Gannon.
