“This organization is a place where staff want to work, and where elders want to live”
In our recent operations and facility survey, conducted by Accreditation Canada, Arrowsmith Lodge was awarded ‘Accreditation with Exemplary Standing’, the highest rating possible.
Accreditation is a peer review based on national standards, customized to support each long-term care home’s core values, to guide continuous improvement in delivering safe, high-quality, and reliable care to residents.
“I know how hard our leadership team worked, and supported the staff so that this review reflected the amazing care that is delivered daily,” said Board Chair Susan Farlinger. She added, “The pandemic has been a primary focus for the last three years, and I know how caring the staff are, they did not let COVID interrupt the joy they try to bring to the residents each and every day.
Michael Aikins, CEO, identified areas of excellence that were cited during the review. “We are truly proud that we had 100% compliance for the ‘Required Organizational Practices’…these are mandatory processes that are the underpinning of an organization’s commitment to quality.” He said, “the surveyors summed it up best when they noted that ‘the organization is a place where staff want to work, and where elders want to live’.” Aikins further added, “these last three years have taken a toll on our staff, and it does not seem to be easing up with the latest challenges in the human health resources crisis. This was fantastic recognition for our front-line staff, that despite these unprecedented challenges, they can still deliver high-quality care and services.”
